Long Island Aquatic Club is very excited to have a new coach join our coaching staff for the summer season. Originally born in Germany, Ruth moved to the United States when she was two years old. She grew up in California where swimming became her passion. Later, she and her family moved to the Philadelphia area, where she continued her competitive swimming. She swam on a club team and her high school team as well. Ruth was Junior National qualifier in High school. Continuing her swimming in college, Ruth made the Big East team all four years at Pittsburgh. Ruth was a very well rounded swimmer; swimming distance Freestyle, Breaststroke, and IM. She was a scholar athlete and her senior year was awarded the Senior Achievement Award from the Pittsburgh Panthers athletic department. Ruth has her Bachelors of Science from the University of Pittsburgh in Neuroscience and is currently continuing her education in the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Pharmacy. During her years as a student at Pittsburgh, Ruth had the opportunity to coach with the club program, Team Pittsburgh. Ruth has been coaching for many years now and enjoys working with children. Ruth will begin working with many of the groups within LIAC this week. We are very excited and are looking forward to having Ruth as a part of the LIAC coaching staff for the summer.
