From the Desk of Stephen and Maureen Festa January 7, 2012 Dear Members of Long Island Swimming, Since 2002, it has been my honor and privilege to work beside Coaches Dave Ferris and Ginny Nussbaum in the organization's endeavor to establish a training facility that would present to the children of Nassau County a unique opportunity to pursue their dreams of reaching the elite levels of competitive swimming. In my capacity both on the board of directors and as chairman of fundraising, I have observed an organization whose consistency, hard work, and dedication has been unmatched by any other I have known, athletic or otherwise. The number of families who have benefited from their relationship with Long Island Swimming is countless, and my own family stands with eternal gratitude for the opportunities this relationship has produced. Unfortunately, since early 2011, my health has taken a turn for the worse, and at times I feel it only prudent to begin to pare back on responsibilities outside of my immediate family. I therefore am regrettably today resigning my position both on the board of directors and my role in fundraising. At this moment, I am currently the signer on the fundraising bank accounts along with Dr. Evan Kaplan. Today the board of directors will be voting on a new signer to these accounts and I will with earnest help to facilitate the banking administration of this transfer. I have been assured by the organization's accountant Mr. Rashmin Master C.P.A. and our independent auditor Mr. Mark Bindiger, that all funds that all funds that have been correctly identified, and that all of the fundraising accounts have been deemed fully intact. So it at this juncture that I will sadly, but yet hopeful for its completion, terminate my 8 year endeavor on this project. If needed I will always be available for consultation and again can never fully express my gratitude to Dave and Ginny, if health allows may one day join them for that one last nightcap in Buffalo on a cold winter's night (although I heard it's Maryland now).
Respectfully,
Dr. Stephen Festa |
