Hats Off to Reid O’Connell for crushing Metropolitan record in the 1000 freestyle by 12 seconds! Congratulations to Alex Siegel making her first 12 years old girls NCSA cut in the 500 free! It’s time to get your ticket down to Florida! Attached to this email you will find results from this weekend. The Practice "GRIND" We have entered the middle, the "grind", portion of our short course season. One last conditioning push before our December travel meets, followed by a few months of real challenging practices as we look farther ahead to our championship meets. Embrace the grind, and GET COMFORTABLE BEING UNCOMFORTABLE! These cold, winter tough days of training are where the future time drops happen and where season goals are achieved! That is all I have for now, looking forward to another great weekend of racing. Thank you for all your support! SWIM FAST!!! SWIM LIAC!!! Hi Parents,
I hope everyone had a great time in Virginia and got home safely. Dom and I had an absolute blast watching the outstanding performances from our swimmers last weekend! Way to Go, AG1! Keep up the great work! Cheers to Micheal Meehan and Jayden Yun, who now reserved their seat on the plane to Orlando with their first Florida cut! Congratulations to the Ryan’s! Ryan Baldwin set a new LIAC record in the 200 Butterfly, and Ryan Yao set the new LIAC record in the 200 Freestyle. Shoutout to the 11-12 Boys: Reid O’Connell, Michael Zhu, Ryan Baldwin, and Ethan Lee, who got their names on the Metropolitan record board in the 400 Medley Relay! Well done, boys! Reid O’Connell had a fantastic meet setting multiple Metropolitan records in the 200 and 500 Free, 200 IM, and 400 IM, which was the second-highest power point-scoring swim of the meet. Reid’s times rank him in the Top 100 in 11-12 Age Group history, with a 23rd ranking in the 400 IM! Keep the ball rolling, big boy! This week's email has info for the LIAC Thanksgiving meet, Buffalo, our food drive, and some schedule changes! Practice Schedule: We have a whole week of usual practice this week! Sunday, 11/14, will be another 2.5-hour challenge practice for the group, 7:00 am - 9:30 am! All swimmers must have a bottle of water and a bottle of Gatorade at the practice that day. Now that it is colder, all athletes will be departing the pool (whether they swim in the Aquatic Center or Freedom Pool) from the lower entrance of the Aquatic Center. Until we are further into the new eligibility pool of young people being vaccinated, all athletes will wear a mask departing the pool through the lower hallway/lobby. Athletes should not linger or hang out in the lower lobby unless their ride is late. They should leave and head straight for their rides. Looking further ahead, there are some practice time changes on the horizon. Please make sure to stay up to date and review any dates listed as "Altered Schedule" to see if it affects one of your swimmers! The calendar is here: https://www.longislandswimming.com/practices.html LIAC Thanksgiving Invite: Updated entries are attached. Please take a look at your swimmer's events. I will email you the information as soon as I hear something from MD. “If it was EASY, everyone would be doing it” Last week AG1 had the first test set going 6 x 100 free on 6 min from the block! Your athletes had a great experience chasing their best times at the practice. So many athletes took an opportunity to go for their best time! I attached the results of this set, so you and your swimmers can look at it. That is all for this week! Busy season is just getting started! Good luck to all racing this weekend! SWIM FAST!
