Hi Everyone,
I hope you had a lovely weekend with your family. The AG1 practice schedule has a few changes as we approach the Age Group Championships. Mon.7/17: Dryland 4:00 - 4:15 pm, Swim 4:30 - 6:30 pm Tue.7/18: 6:00 - 8:00 pm Wed.7/19: 4:00 - 6:00 pm Thurs.7/20: No dryland, Swim 4:30 - 5:30 pm Fri/Sat & Sun.: AGE GROUP CHAMPS The final Age Group Champs entry report is attached. All athletes are required to know their events coming to the meet to minimize any confusion. There are relays each day – your athlete must check with me each day to see if they are in a relay! We will have the relays posted on the day of the race. We plan on having a theme for our athletes to get them fired up! Friday’s theme will be “ USA Team,” and Sunday’s theme is “Superheroes” – the kids are encouraged to add to their LIAC attire with costumes, capes, masks, and props related to superheroes! Saturday will be a normal White LIAC T-shirt day. In the next few days, you will receive detailed meet information with all logistics. ISCA entry file will go out on Wednesday, 7/19. If you have any last-minute changes, please let me know. That is all for now. I will be sending more information to you as the week goes on. If you have any additional questions, please ask! Thank you, Gabi Sofia

Happy Monday!
I hope everyone had a pleasant and relaxing weekend. It is hard to believe our swim season is approaching the end, and we are only eleven days away from the Age Group Championships. Your athletes have done nice work crashing challenging sets. The work is done. It’s time for preparation. Next few weeks, we will spend more time working on the details to sharpen up things like starts, turns, finishes, etc. At this point, attendance becomes very important. Repetitio est mater studiorum! AG1 practice schedule slightly changes on Friday, 7/14, and is posted on our website: https://www.longislandswimming.com/practices.html. I will run dryland sessions from 3:45 to 4:15 pm on Monday, 7/10, and Thursday, 7/13. The updated AG1 entry file for Age Group Champs is attached to this email. Please review it again and let me know if you have any questions by noon on Tuesday, 7/11. I won’t be able to make any changes once the entries are submitted. Lastly, I want to share three tips for making the most of your athletes’ taper and racing FAST at their BIG meet. Please share it with your kids!
I hope you have a lovely week. Best regards, Gabi Sofia Happy Thursday!
I hope you are having an easy and enjoyable week. AG1 Summer Fun results are attached to this email. Congratulations to Josie Gans for making her first Age Group Champs cut! 200 m flyers deserved applause for their great efforts. It is one of the most challenging long-course events! I also attached updated Age Group Champs and ISCA entries. Please review it with your athletes and let me know if you have any questions. I plan to talk to each swimmer individually at the practice. The school year is over. I know many swimmers have started different camps. As much as I like your kids to have fun during the summer, please communicate with me before you sign your kids up for the swim camps. Every swim program is different and has its own teaching style. Approaching championship season, we will work on the details like starts, turns, etc. I want to ensure our athletes don’t get confused learning new things at the swim camps, which may affect their performance. As the summer days get hotter, even an easy, short practice can dehydrate athletes in extreme heat or humidity. Athletes sweat a lot during practice, meaning their bodies are shedding water and electrolytes and working harder than usual. Electrolytes, including sodium, are expelled as swimmers sweat, and if their bodies get out of balance, drinking too much plain water rather than replenishing it with an electrolyte-infused sports drink can actually be dangerous. A sports drink is essential to help replenish athletes’ electrolytes and water stores. Please remind your kids to have water and sports drinks at the practice. The AG1 practice schedule for next week is posted on the website https://www.longislandswimming.com/practices.html. We’ll have practice from 7:00 to 9:00 am at NCAC on Tuesday, 7/4. I am at the practice on Friday morning but will be out of town this weekend. In case of an emergency, please contact Gabby at gborutecene@longislandswimming.com and CC me on your email. I hope everyone has a lovely rest of the week. Swimmingly, Gabi Sofia Hi Everyone,

I hope you all have enjoyed the beautiful weather across our area for the Memorial Day weekend. I've attached the results from the Scarlet meet. AG1 girls rocked, getting 73% personal best times overall! Way to go, LADIES! Many seed times on the heat sheets at the Scarlet meet were converted, creating confusion and unnecessary reactions because swimmers didn’t know their best times. In the future, please remind your athletes to look at their best times before their races so that we can celebrate their successful swims together. I also attached the preliminary AG1 entries and info packet for the Summer Fun meet. I will make adjustments to it after the Summertime Classic meet. Please let me know if you have any questions or changes. Here is the weekly practice schedule: https://www.longislandswimming.com/liac-main-calendar.html AG1 practice schedule has no changes for the rest of the week. We will have dryland from 5:30 to 6:00 pm on Wednesday, 5/31. Please remind your athletes to bring yoga mats. Have a great week, Gabi Sofia Hi Everyone,

Last weekend we honored all of the swim moms who selflessly support, encourage, and sacrifice so their swimmer can excel in the sport. You're always there with a warm towel, snack, and just what your kids need to hear to get back on the blocks. Thank you, Gabi Sofia Happy Monday!
