Hello everyone! I missed you over the weekend but hope you are all doing well!
We now have 8 people signed up for the Talent show from Blue Team... Who else will join them? If you can't send a video - just send me an email that explains what you will do as your talent! We've got some musicians, a lego builder, some ball room dancers, and a spoon balancer already on the list! What will you share with us?! Don't be SHY! See you at dryland later! Happy Friday! The end of the week is here! Just wanted to say how proud I am of all of your dedication to dryland over the past few weeks. I am so impressed with not only your consistent attendance (more than 50 swimmers a day!) but also with how hard each of you is working and pushing yourselves to be better. Keep up the great work - it is making a difference!
No riddle today - just put together the letters and bring me the phrase later! See you soon! Still looking for entrants into the Talent show!
I know a lot more of you play instruments than just the two people who have sent me videos so far! Can't play something, get creative? Can you juggle? Can you draw? Can you decorate a cake? Can you sing a song while standing on your head or doing the hoola hoop? Join the talent show and show us what you can do! I would love to have a stronger showing from Blue Team! I hope you had a great weekend and that you and your families are all doing well! Its a gorgeous day today so I hope you find some time to get outside! Please make sure your parents look for an email from me this morning regarding a change to dryland log in - that way you don't have any issues logging in later. Instead of a spirit week, this week I've got a fun riddle for you. Check back here for clues daily. The answers are all things you should be able to find around your house or yard. Todays Clues: (each clue has it's own answer - so there are two answers today) 1. I don't come from a tree, but I can sometimes be a stick. Put too much of me on popcorn, and I might make you sick! 2. There are many of me in summer, but in winter I can't be found, In the spring I'm just starting out, and by the fall I'm on the ground. Bring the object(s) with you to dryland to see if you got the answer correct! At the end of the week your answers will spell out a phrase... See if you can figure it out! See you later! It's Disney Day - so I thought I would share a few Disney quotes with you that might apply to our current situation... Have you ever been "kicked in the teeth"? Maybe you raced to a best time and got DQ'd. Or you thought you had made a cut time, but you missed it. Maybe you studied hard for a test but did poorly. I would call our situation right now a real kick in the teeth. We were feeling good, getting stronger, and then this came along and messed us up. None of us are getting to do the things we thought we would be doing right now and that is frustrating! But think about how you bounced back from those situations. Did you fix your mistake the next time you raced so you would avoid that DQ? Did you work harder at every practice to try to make that cut time? Maybe you found a new way to study that would help you do better? The setback you experienced probably pushed you harder to improve. Whether we make new memories with our family, learn to appreciate our friends more, or long for the hard work we do in the pool every day, we will bounce back from this situation and we will improve because of it. Getting back to normal may seem impossible. But sometimes the impossible is a fun challenge to take on! These drylands seem impossible to me (because I'm not young and athletic like you guys!) but I find the more fun I have with you each day, the easier it gets for me. I cant control how strong I am or how good my pushups are... but I can try to get better each time. See if there are little ways you can find fun in the challenges you meet each day. Get competitive with yourself. Can you learn more than you think? Can you do something faster or better than before? Challenge yourself to do what you think you can't, when you achieve it you will find some fun in it I think. Last one. You know I couldn't leave this out! Just keep swimming isn't just about the pool or a race. It's about moving forward. How can we move forward? Make yourself better somehow. Be more kind, or helpful. Get stronger or faster. Read more. Do something for someone else. All of those things make you better. Just keep swimming applies to the pool sometimes, but right now it applies to all of us in life. How will you keep swimming this week? Alright - hopefully no more Burpees today folks!
It's April Fools day, and while we may not be feeling particularly "Tricky" today I do have a few water jokes for you... See if you can give me the answers later! Why do Sharks only swim in salt water? Why is a river an amazing roomate? Why is the ocean always on time? What did one ocean say to the other? What goes up when rain comes down? Why couldn't the fish watch YouTube? Now get outside and enjoy this sunshine! |
