Freedom Pool Facility Fund

PROVIDING AN ENVIRONMENT WHERE CHAMPIONS ARE INEVITABLE

There is no other sports program on Long Island that rivals LIAC’s record of achievement.  The LIAC program is a major contributing factor to its student-athlete’s record of academic and athletic excellence and social maturity.  We strive to develop champions in the pool and in life.

LIAC's record for over forty-five years has been to find a better way and improve the opportunities available to the youth of Long Island.  We have had success at the highest levels of the sport.  In order to continue that success we must continually  "up our game."

In the early 2000s, Long Island Swimming LTD, the not-for-profit 501-C3 sponsor of LIAC, set the audacious goal of building a training facility dedicated to developing competitive swimming on Long Island. In 2017, we accomplished that goal with the opening of the Freedom Pool. The opportunities for our athletes provided by access to the Freedom Pool have propelled LIAC from a nationally recognized competitive team to a perennial national power regularly among the Top 10 teams in the United States.

The vast majority of alumni and families that raised the first $1.5 million to break ground on the pool never had the opportunity to swim and train in it.  They believed in our essential core value of “Providing an Environment where Champions are Inevitable” and were willing to “pay it forward” to provide that opportunity for others.  We are forever grateful for their investment in helping this pool of dreams become a reality.

Please help us provide a legacy of excellence for the youth of Long Island

To date, we have spent over $3.5 million on capital improvements for the Freedom Pool.  All with the goal of developing a best-in-class environment for our athletes.  The strength training room added in 2019, allowing for on-site strength and conditioning training, has saved our participating members over $1,600 per year in outsourced strength and conditioning coaching. We continue to make improvements in our facility, yet more needs to be done.  It’s our immediate goal to upgrade all the entrances to the Freedom Pool and to significantly increase the dry land exercise space available to our age group and senior-level athletes.
