Officials

Thank you for your interest in becoming a LIAC Official!! This is an incredibly rewarding role with endless opportunities! Thank you for being a vital part of your swimmer's experience!

How to become a Metro Official:

  1. Obtain the registration link from your club or the Metro registrar. Use your existing USA Swimming login credentials or create a new one if needed.  Select "Official" and pay the fee.
  2. Log in to your USA Swimming account and access the  Education tab to find the  Course Catalog in USA Swimming University. Complete the following steps to become a member in good standing:
    1. Background check (BGC)
    2. Athlete Protection Training (APT)
    3. Concussion course (CDC)
  3. Enroll in the "Foundations of Officiating" and the "Stroke and Turn Certification" online courses, both found in the Course Catalog. A minimum score of 80% is required to pass the Stroke and Turn course.
  4. Email your concussion certificate to  [email protected] for apprentice certification.
  5. Read  "What to Expect as a New Metro Stroke and Turn Official" before starting your on-deck apprentice sessions.
  6. Complete on-deck apprentice sessions, a minimum of 4 sessions at 2 different meets. Satisfactory evaluations are required.
  7. Send completed evaluations  to  [email protected]. Once reviewed, your certification will be updated to "LSC Certified."

Metro Swimming also offers free informational sessions on how to become an official - you can find that info on the Metro Swimming Officials Web Page.
