BLUE Team

Wednesday

4/29/2020

Hi Friends!
Hope you're hanging in there on this rainy day!  It's the perfect day to cuddle up with a book - and then get busy with dryland!

I mentioned the other day a special announcement that was coming, and a reminder to get on top of your cardio - if you haven't already seen LIAC is running a Virtual 5k!  You can sign up by going to this page on our website:Virtual 5K

The race is for swimmers, coaches, and families, and our goal is to get 300 participants from LIAC!  We have almost 60 people from Blue Team participating in dryland every day so it would be great to get all of those same people to participate in the virutal 5k.  We've got some time to get ready - it's not until the week of May 15th - so start jogging around the block or riding your bike a little more each day so you're prepared!

Everyone who participates will get a custom race bib and a copy of the LIAC coaches play list!  Even though we can't actually run together we can all share the same tunes while we workout!  Anyhow, we've got time but I hope you'll join me in the Virtual 5k!

Today I've got a color your own superhero activity for you... I'll share mine with you at dryland!  See you soon!

It's been a week!

Hi Friends!
I hope you all got outside to enjoy the gorgeous weather on Saturday!  Back to rain again today,, but I know I am already looking forward to the sunshine forecasted for tomorrow!  I will be better about leaving you a daily message again this week!
Did you know it's superhero week?!  So I've got some superhero scavenger hunting for you today!

Find & bring to dryland:
Something an original super hero needs to fly
Something that could get someone all tangled up
Something to keep a hero's identity a secret
Something our patriotic hero uses to protect himself

Be creative!

SWIMeMON!

4/20/2020

Hi Everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend!  I missed seeing your smiling faces and I am looking forward to drylands later this afternoon!

As you may know, the Swim School has been posting some fun activities on our website over the past few weeks.  They vary in age group, and some are geared towards younger kids, but there are a lot of fun activities there that you might enjoy too!  Each activity relates to water in some way!

This week we are doing a weeklong SWIMeMON activity that I thought some of you might enjoy in particular.  We will be posting updates each day this week to follow up and extend the activity.  Feel free to check it out and maybe even share with your friends and family if you think it's something they might be into!

Have fun and see you later!

Thursday & Friday!

Ooops - I missed a day!
So, did you enjoy our guest speaker?!  I know myself and the other coaches were thoroughly impressed and inspired by Missy's advice.  As someone who has reached the highest level in swimming, she highlighted some of the best parts of our sport aside from winning too. I thought she gave some great suggestions as far as ways to help us get through the difficulties of our current situation, and ways to overcome obstacles in the pool as well!  The biggest takeaway for me, however, was that being a good swimmer was important, but that being a good person and teammate in life was more important to her.  I know that is something swimming taught me in my experience, and it was exciting to hear that an olympian come to the same reaction and outcome.  If you get a chance to start thinking about some of the homework she gave you - and you feel like sharing it - I will be happy to be your accountability partner or goal buddy!  Write down your thoughts and feel free to send me an email whenever.

Today we've got the Talent show on tap and then a fun surprise at the end of dryland.  You will need a LIAC Cap - preferably a white one - and goggles... so dig them out from the bottom of your bag or closet and I will see you later!

Wednesday 4/15

Hello Friends!
I hope you are as excited as I am for our guest speaker today!
Also, I am sure some of you have seen it, but NBC sports is reliving the best of the Olympics from Rio, London, and Beijing this week.  Swimming will be heavily featured  - so if you're looking for a little racing fix - tune in!

See you later,
Alexis

Hi Everyone,
As I mentioned yesterday there is a special surprise being planned for Wednesday - we are just working out all the details.
Due to the surprise, the first part of the talent show will most likely be on Friday instead, with the Finale taking place next Wednesday.
Stay tuned to your email for more info!
See you at dryland later!

Monday 4/13

4/13/2020

Hello everyone!  I missed you over the weekend but hope you are all doing well!
We now have 8 people signed up for the Talent show from Blue Team...
Who else will join them?  If you can't send a video - just send me an email that explains what you will do as your talent!  We've got some musicians, a lego builder, some ball room dancers, and a spoon balancer already on the list!  What will you share with us?!   Don't be SHY!
See you at dryland later!

Friday 4/10

4/10/2020

Happy Friday!  The end of the week is here!  Just wanted to say how proud I am of all of your dedication to dryland over the past few weeks.  I am so impressed with not only your consistent attendance (more than 50 swimmers a day!) but also with how hard each of you is working and pushing yourselves to be better.  Keep up the great work - it is making a difference!

No riddle today - just put together the letters and bring me the phrase later!
See you soon!

Thursday 4/9

Still looking for entrants into the Talent show!
I know a lot more of you play instruments than just the two people who have sent me videos so far!   Can't play something, get creative?  Can you juggle?  Can you draw?  Can you decorate a cake?  Can you sing a song while standing on your head or doing the hoola hoop?  Join the talent show and show us what you can do!  I would love to have a stronger showing from Blue Team!

Yesterday's answers were Eye, Apple, Milk, and Rice... Here are your clues for the day!

1. This is a type of fruit
But it is not a lime
There are no other words
With which this word can rhyme

2. I'm made of dough, but I"m not a loaf of bread
Eat lots of me with chips and you will be well fed!

3. I get cut but I never bleed, I have teeth but I don’t bite,
You might need a flashlight to find me find my place,
and get you in your house at night!

4. These are things that have tongues
But don’t have any faces,
you might wear them in pairs
to help you win running races

Have a great day and see you later!
