Connor Brown named “Outstanding Performer” at Boys NY State Championships

3/4/2015

Congratulations to LIAC National Team member, Connor Brown, who was named “Outstanding Peformer” of the New York State Boys Swimming Championships this past weekend in Ithaca, New York.  Connor won the 200 Freestyle (1:39.34- All-American Consideration Time) and the 500 Freestyle (4:27.46- All-American Automatic Time).  Both swims set new Nassau County records in those events.  The records were previously held by LIAC legend Kenny MacFadyen, set in 1994!

Max Willard (Long Beach) set a new Nassau County record in the 100 Backstroke (51.65) and finished 3rd in the event.  The swim broke the previous record set by LIAC swimmer Nick Spinella, set in 2009.  Max also finished 8th in the 200 Freestyle.

Delaney Hall (Garden City) competed in the 200 IM finishing 9th and the 100 Breaststroke.  He also raced in two relays for Garden City High School.

Ryan Brown (Garden City), coming off a tough weekend at Senior Mets, competed well in the 200 IM and 100 Breaststroke.  Ryan finished 5th in the 100 Breaststroke.

CJ Arena (St. Anthony’s) raced a great 500 Freestyle, winning the consolation final and just missing an NCSA Junior National qualifying time (4:39.85).

Conor Beil (Manhasset) qualified for the C-Final in the 500 Freestyle and went a personal best time of 4:45.24 in prelims.

Dranoel Truter (Sewanhaka) qualified for the C- Final in the 100 Backstroke and went a new best time of 53.59 in prelims.

Also qualifying for the state meet were Adem Tuurmann (Bellmore-Merrick), Adrian Chan (Sewanhaka), and Ruben Cerri-Droz (Molloy).

Connor Brown and Maggie Aroesty won the “Outstanding Performer” of the meet award for the Boy and Girl Championships this season giving LIAC a sweep of the award for the 2014-2015 school year.

With Connor and Max’s new county records, LIAC swimmers or alum currently hold 6 of 8 individual Boys Nassau County records.
