USA Swimming has announced the recipients of the 2014-2015 Scholastic All-American awards. This honor acknowledges national level swimmers who display great success in the pool and in the classroom! Swimmers must have swum a time that betters the 2011 Junior National time standards as well as maintain a 3.5 GPA or higher throughout the school year. These athletes exemplify the definition of student-athlete.
This year, 11 LIAC swimmers were recognized as Scholastic All-Americans. Congratulations to- CJ Arena (sophomore, 4.0 GPA) Conor Beil (Junior, 4.0) Connor Brown (Notre Dame bound, 4.0) Ryan Brown (Junior, 4.0) Maggie Aroesty (sophomore, 4.0) Beth Caruana (sophomore 4.0) Kerry Giovanniello (U of Buffalo bound, 4.0) Morgan Harrington (Junior, 4.0) Paige Kaplan (Notre Dame bound, 4.0) Yuka Kuwahara (Senior, 4.0) Cara Treble (Junior) A special note to Connor Brown and Kerry Giovanniello who attained Scholastic All-American status all 3 years of high school in which athletes are eligible. Congratulations to these athletes for setting an example to our entire program by demonstrating what it takes to be successful in and out of the pool! Maggie Aroesty, a member of the USA team that traveled and competed in Singapore August 25-30, Maggie finished 10th at the FINA World Junior Championships. Congratulations on your outstanding performance.
