LIAC Swimmers are Teaming Up to Raise Money to Fight Cancer!  Join us!

It's Swim Across America time again!  For those of you who don't already know, Swim Across America is a national organization that raises money for cancer research and treatment.  Long Island Swimming athletes will fundraise and then dedicate a special practice or lesson to the fight against cancer.  One of the best features of the organization is that all of the fundraising efforts go towards local beneficiaries… so your swimmers will be swimming for places that benefit your local family and friends fighting the disease.

For more information on Swim Across America and their beneficiaries please take a look at their website:  http://www.swimacrossamerica.org/site/PageServer?pagename=NS_Beneficiary

The week of June 1 – 7, 2015 will be LIAC's Swim Across America week.  Swimmers who participate will dedicate a practice, set, or the entire week, towards the fight against cancer.   This year we are adding a special incentive… it’s a SWIM OFF!  The Swim School, Stroke Clinic, and LIAC will each fundraise as separate teams.  The team who raises the most money will receive a special reward!

This is really about doing something for a fantastic cause, but we do want to recognize your hard work and commitment to fundraising.  Swimmers who raise the minimum of $100 will receive a t-shirt and cap, those who raise $200 will be invited to a pool party on June 13th, and those who raise $500 or more will receive a towel.

With over 1400 members of the Long Island Swimming family, we really can do a lot.  Last year our Swim Across America swim raised over $45,000 to fight cancer.   Our goal this year is to raise another $40,000, which will bring our 4 year total over $150,000!

To Register for the swim click here.  Click on the register link and choose JOIN A TEAM.  Type in the program you are a part of “TEAM LIAC” or “TEAM STROKE CLINIC” or “TEAM SWIM SCHOOL”.  Follow the directions to register and personalize your child’s fundraising page.  You can honor a specific family member or friend, include a special message or photo, or just explain why the event is important to you.  Share the link to your child’s personal fundraising page with family, friends, and co-workers to start fundraising.

This is a great opportunity for your child to use the sport they love to help others. We encourage your swimmers to ask family and friends to donate to this wonderful cause.  We look forward to Long Island Swimming making waves to fight cancer!

Thank you from the Gulf Coast Swim Team
