Tim Marski and Christian Sztolcman lead LIAC National and High Performance Groups 20 + State Qualifiers on High School Hero Weekend.
Tim Marski swam three High School All-American times winning two events on his way to being named Nassau County Outstanding Swimmer this past Saturday. Tim won the 50 Free 20.40 (p) and 100 Fly 48.63 before leading off the 400 Free Relay with a County record 44.95.
Senior Sensation Sean McClellan in his first year of High School swimming won the 200 Free 1:45.63, with Tyler Walters taking 2nd. Notable, was freshman National Team member Griffen Schimmel taking 4th. That’s more than half of the A-finalists. Min Chun, Tim Yeung and Kieran Brown rounded out the LIAC finalists.
Orry Zayit led five LIAC finalists winning the 200 IM in 1:53.08. Javier Ramirez, Hans Lim, Justen Lopez and Pat Boyle all scored in the big final. In the 100 Fly Orry, Zac Leng, Brian Klotsche, and Hans Lim joined Marski in the Final.
The 500 Free showed LIAC’s endurance and depth with 8 of the 10 finalist all LIAC swimmers. In a tight race Javier Ramirez touched out LIAC teammate Ryan Davidoff. Griffen Schimmel, Min Chun, Pat Boyle and Tyler Waters went 1-6 for complete LIAC dominance.
Zac Leng took 3rd in the 100 Back, while Justen Lopez took 2nd in the 100 Breast leading 4 LIAC final swimmers, James Wun, Elias Richter, and Terran Cheng. A notable swim by National Team swimmer Elias from prelims going 1:00.89 as a Freshman!
Austin Fei, an 8th Grader in Select was 13th & 16th in the 200 & 500. Michael Falcone, a freshman was 17th in the 100 Fly. Michael Biryukov, a freshman in the National group, was 17th & 15th in the 200 IM and 500 free. Marcus Chau, a freshman was 17th in the 100 Fly. Luca Sodi a National team member, was 17th and 20th in the 200 IM and 100 Free. Patrick Yan, yet another freshman in the Select group, was 16th and 14th in the 200 IM and 100 Breast. Calvin Ye, a freshman in Select, was 19th in both the 500 Free and 100 Back.
Not to be outdone, Christian Sztolcman led Chaminade to the CHSAA Championship. Named the CHSAA Outstanding Swimmer Christian won the 200 Free, 1:39.41 (p) and 500 Free 4:35.50. His best swim was a 44.14 come from behind relay anchor leg to win the event and meet. Billy Swartwout finaled in both the 200 and 500 Free.
Nik Daly placed 2nd in the 100 Breast and 4th in the 200 IM. National Team swimmer CJ Rodgers finaled in the 200 IM. National Team swimmer Anthony Melchore took 3rd in the 50 22.05, qualifying for States. Chris Stange and Nick Shopis placed 3rd and 5th in the 100 Free both qualifying for States.
Great job boys! Remember Competitive Greatness is being your best in the biggest competition. The challenge of LIAC is to be the BIG FISH in the BIG Pool. Stay focused we have more to do.
